Late Night Deliveries

Office Fantasy 13 min read 3418 words

“Are you sure you can’t just push it to Monday, Daniel?” I asked, leaning back in my ergonomically unsound office chair. The fluorescent lights hummed above us, a constant, low-level irritant. It was almost 8 PM on a Friday, and the only other sound was the distant clatter of the cleaning crew in the hallway.

Daniel didn’t even look up from his laptop. “Amelia, you know as well as I do what Hendershot is like. If this ‘Q3 Performance Overview’ isn’t in his inbox by midnight, he’ll have my head. And by extension, yours.” He tapped a key, and I could hear the aggressive click from across the large, empty conference room.

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. My own laptop screen glowed with a spreadsheet I’d been staring at for hours, the numbers blurring into a meaningless grid. “I just… I had plans. And a very large glass of wine with my name on it.”

He finally looked up, a small, tired smile playing on his lips. His blue eyes, usually sharp and intense, seemed a little softer in the artificial light. “Plans involving a very large glass of wine and… who?”

“My couch,” I deadpanned. “And maybe a bad reality TV show. Don’t judge.”

He chuckled, a low, unexpected sound. “No judgment here. My plans involved reheating leftover Chinese and staring blankly at the wall until I fell asleep.”

It was a rare moment of levity between us. Daniel Blackwood, head of our department, was usually all business. Sharp suits, sharper intellect, and a reputation for being demanding but fair. He was in his late thirties, meticulously groomed, and always seemed to be three steps ahead of everyone else. I’d worked for him for two years, and while our professional relationship was solid, there was always an unspoken barrier, a formality that kept things strictly by the book. He was the boss, I was the capable, ambitious analyst.

“Alright, fine,” I conceded, pushing my chair closer to the table. “What’s the absolute priority here? I can format the final charts while you review the executive summary one last time.”

“That would be perfect.” He went back to his screen, and I started finessing the PowerPoint presentation, making sure the fonts matched and the data visualizations were clean. The silence settled again, punctuated by the rhythmic tapping of our keyboards.

An hour crawled by. My stomach grumbled. “I’m starving,” I announced, breaking the quiet. “Is there anything left in the kitchen? Even those stale protein bars would do.”

Daniel closed his laptop. “I think there’s some pizza. Leftover from the marketing team’s late meeting. Didn’t look too bad. You want to brave the fridge?”

“Pizza? From yesterday?” I wrinkled my nose. “That’s a new low, even for me.”

He pushed back from the table, stretching his arms above his head. His shirt, which had been perfectly crisp this morning, was now slightly rumpled around the shoulders. I noticed the way the fabric pulled taut across his chest as he stretched, a fleeting observation I quickly dismissed.

“It’s either that or starvation, Amelia. Or I could order something. But delivery might take an hour.” He walked over to the small kitchenette attached to the conference room, opening the industrial-sized fridge. “Ah, here we go. Two slices. Pepperoni. Slightly petrified.” He pulled out a cardboard box.

I peered over his shoulder. “Looks… resilient.”

He laughed again, a fuller sound this time. He was different like this, after hours, when the office was empty. Less guarded, more human. He warmed the pizza in the microwave, and we ate it standing by the counter, making small talk about the absurdity of corporate deadlines and the upcoming quarterly review.

“You’ve done a really good job on this, by the way,” he said, gesturing vaguely at my laptop on the conference table. “The data analysis is much clearer than last quarter. Hendershot will be impressed.”

“Thanks,” I said, feeling a flush of pride. It was rare to get direct praise from Daniel. He usually just expected high-quality work. “I tried a new pivot table technique.”

“It shows.” He finished his pizza slice, crumpling the paper plate. “Okay, let’s wrap this up. I just need to proofread the final summary, and then we can send it off to the great Hendershot in the sky.”

We returned to our desks. The last push. My eyes felt gritty, and I could feel a headache starting to bloom behind my temples. But knowing we were almost done gave me a second wind. I finalized the last few charts, checking the numbers against the source data one last time. Daniel’s typing became more sporadic, then stopped altogether. I heard him exhale slowly.

“Done,” he announced. “Finally. Sending it now.”

A moment of silence. Then, a small chime from his laptop. “And… delivered. It’s midnight on the dot. Mission accomplished.”

I closed my laptop with a satisfying click. “Thank God. I think I’ve been looking at Excel spreadsheets for so long my vision is starting to pixelate.”

He stood up, stretching again. This time, I let my eyes linger for a fraction of a second longer. The way his shirt stretched, the lean line of his body. He was fit, I knew that. He ran marathons, or so the office gossip went. He was attractive, in an understated, professional way. Not flashy, but solid. Dependable.

“You heading straight home?” he asked, gathering his things. His briefcase, a sleek leather number, clicked shut.

“Yeah. Shower, wine, bed. In that order.” I started putting my own laptop into its case. “What about you? Chinese leftovers?”

He smiled. “Maybe. Or maybe I’ll treat myself to something that doesn’t require a microwave. It’s been a long week.” He walked around the conference table, coming to stand near my chair. His presence was suddenly very close, much closer than usual. I could smell the faint, clean scent of his cologne, subtle and expensive.

“Well, thank you for sticking it out with me, Amelia,” he said, his voice a little lower now, softer. “I really appreciate your dedication. This wouldn’t have gotten done without you.”

“It’s my job,” I replied, trying to keep my voice even, though I felt a strange warmth spread through me at his words. His sincerity was disarming. He was standing directly behind me now, and I could feel the heat radiating from him.

“It’s more than just a job, though, isn’t it?” he murmured. His hand rested lightly on my shoulder, a completely unexpected touch. It wasn’t a professional pat, but something gentler, a little lingering. My breath hitched.

My body went still. The fluorescent lights, the empty office, the late hour – it all coalesced into a potent atmosphere. His hand was warm through my blouse. A shiver, not of cold, but of anticipation, ran down my spine.

“Daniel…” I started, my voice barely a whisper. I didn’t know what I was going to say. To pull away? To lean into it? My mind was a blank slate.

He moved closer, his other hand coming to rest on my other shoulder. He was leaning over me now, his chest almost brushing my head. I could feel the soft fabric of his suit jacket against my hair. His breath was warm on my neck. My heart was pounding, a frantic drum against my ribs.

“Amelia,” he said, his voice a low murmur right next to my ear. “I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time.”

And then he kissed my neck, just below my ear. It was a soft, exploratory kiss, a feather-light touch that sent a jolt through me. My eyes fluttered shut. I leaned back into him, an involuntary movement, pressing my head against his shoulder. His hands slid from my shoulders to my upper arms, his fingers gripping gently.

“Daniel,” I repeated, my voice even softer, a plea, a question. I was acutely aware of his body behind mine, the solidness of him, the way his warmth seeped into me.

He kissed my neck again, this time a little firmer, his lips parting slightly. I could feel the faint stubble of his chin against my skin. “You have no idea, do you?” he whispered, his voice husky. “How much I’ve wanted you.”

His hands moved, sliding down my arms, his thumbs brushing the sensitive skin of my inner elbows. I shivered again, my breath coming in short, shallow gasps. This was happening. Here. In the empty conference room, under the harsh office lights. It felt illicit, thrilling, utterly overwhelming.

He turned me gently in my chair, so I was facing him. His hands were still on my arms, holding me steady. His eyes, usually so composed, were dark and intense, a hunger in them I’d never seen before. My own gaze flickered from his eyes to his mouth, which was now slightly parted.

“Amelia,” he said again, his voice almost too quiet to hear. He leaned down, and his lips met mine. It wasn’t a tentative kiss, but a hungry, possessive one. His mouth was soft, then firm, demanding. My own lips parted in response, and his tongue swept in, a warm, insistent exploration. I tasted coffee, and something else, something uniquely him.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer, deepening the kiss. All thoughts of professionalism, of boundaries, of the office, evaporated. There was only Daniel, his mouth on mine, his hands now at my waist, pulling me up out of the chair until I was standing, pressed against him. My body molded to his, and I could feel the hard line of his arousal against my stomach. A gasp escaped me, swallowed by his kiss.

He broke the kiss, his forehead resting against mine, both of us breathing heavily. His eyes were still closed for a moment, then he opened them, his gaze searching mine. “Amelia,” he said again, a tremor in his voice. “Are you sure about this?”

“Yes,” I breathed, my voice shaky. “More than sure.”

He kissed me again, slower this time, a tender, possessive kiss that promised more. His hands slid down to my ass, gripping me firmly, pulling my hips against his. I could feel the insistent pressure of his erection, hot and hard against me. a sharp ache started to bloom between my legs.

He pulled away slightly, his eyes still locked on mine. “We can’t do this here,” he said, his voice rough. “Not here.”

My heart sank for a moment, then he added, “My office. It has a lock.”

A thrill shot through me. His private office. The inner sanctum. “Okay,” I whispered, my voice barely there. “Okay.”

He took my hand, his fingers intertwining with mine, and led me out of the conference room. The hallway was dark, the cleaning crew long gone. The only light came from the emergency exit signs and the faint glow spilling from various offices. The silence was absolute, amplifying the sound of our footsteps, the frantic beat of my own heart.

His office was at the end of the hall, a corner unit with a large window overlooking the city lights. He fumbled with his keys, unlocking the door, then ushering me inside. The room was bathed in the soft, warm glow of a desk lamp he’d left on. It was a stark contrast to the sterile conference room, filled with personal touches – a framed photo of a mountain range, a stack of books on his credenza, a slightly worn leather armchair.

He closed the door behind us, turning the lock with a decisive click. The sound echoed in the sudden quiet. We stood there for a moment, just looking at each other, the unspoken tension between us now a palpable thing. His eyes roamed over my face, then down my body, a slow, appreciative survey that made my skin prickle.

“You’re beautiful, Amelia,” he said, his voice soft, almost reverent. “I’ve thought that since the day you interviewed.”

My cheeks flushed. “You never showed it.”

He gave a short, rueful laugh. “Couldn’t. Wouldn’t have been right. But every time you walked into a meeting, every time you presented, every time you laughed at one of my terrible jokes… I wanted you.”

He stepped towards me, and I met him halfway. Our arms wrapped around each other, and we kissed again, deeper, more desperate this time. My fingers tangled in his hair, pulling gently. His hands explored my back, tracing the curve of my spine, then sliding lower, cupping my ass again, lifting me slightly onto my toes.

He broke the kiss, pressing his forehead against mine once more. “I want you out of these clothes,” he murmured against my lips. “All of them.”

My breath hitched. “Help me, then.”

His fingers went to the buttons of my blouse, fumbling slightly, his concentration intense. I helped him, my own hands working at the buttons, the fabric finally parting. He pulled the blouse from my skirt, letting it fall to the floor in a soft heap. He stared at my lace bra, his eyes dark with desire. “Beautiful,” he whispered again, his thumb brushing the edge of the lace.

He unhooked my bra, his fingers surprisingly deft, and it joined the blouse on the floor. My breasts spilled free, full and aching for his touch. He cupped them gently, his thumbs brushing my nipples, which immediately hardened. A soft moan escaped me.

“God, Amelia,” he groaned, his voice thick with lust. He bent his head and kissed the valley between my breasts, then trailed his lips up my chest, nibbling at my collarbone. His touch was exquisite, sending shivers through my entire body.

I reached for the knot of his tie, pulling it loose, then unbuttoned the top few buttons of his shirt. He shrugged out of it, letting it fall to the floor. He was wearing a white undershirt, which he quickly pulled over his head, revealing a well-defined chest, dusted with dark hair. His shoulders were broad, his arms strong.

He kicked off his shoes, then unbuckled his belt. I watched, mesmerized, as he unzipped his trousers, his eyes never leaving mine. He pushed them down, along with his boxers, and then he was fully naked. My breath caught in my throat. He was magnificently aroused, thick and long, throbbing with a life of its own.

My own skirt and panties followed, pooling around my ankles. I stepped out of them, standing naked before him, my body tingling with anticipation. He reached for me, pulling me into a tight embrace, skin to skin. The feel of his bare chest against mine, his hard erection pressing against my belly, was electrifying.

He picked me up, my legs instinctively wrapping around his waist. I gasped, clinging to him. He carried me over to his desk, carefully clearing a space among the papers and files. He gently lowered me onto the smooth, cool surface of the desk, my back against the polished wood. My legs were still wrapped around him, my heels digging into his lower back.

“Amelia,” he whispered, his voice ragged with desire. He leaned over me, his hands on either side of my head, supporting himself. He kissed me deeply, his tongue sweeping into my mouth, mimicking the thrusting I craved.

His fingers found my wetness, stroking and teasing, making me gasp. My hips instinctively bucked against his hand. He groaned, a deep, guttural sound, and pulled away from the kiss, pressing his face into my neck. “You’re so wet for me,” he breathed. “So ready.”

“Please, Daniel,” I pleaded, my voice hoarse. “Please.”

He shifted, aligning himself between my legs. I could feel the hot, hard tip of him pressing against my entrance. He paused, looking into my eyes, seeking my consent one last time. “Are you sure?” he asked, his voice thick.

“Yes,” I practically sobbed, arching my hips, begging for him. “Yes, yes.”

He entered me slowly, deliberately, a deep groan escaping his lips as he slid inside. The feeling was incredible, a perfect fullness that made my toes curl. I cried out, clutching his shoulders, burying my face in his neck. He filled me completely, stretching me, making me feel utterly consumed.

He started to move, a slow, rhythmic thrust, each movement deepening the sensation. I wrapped my legs tighter around him, urging him on. My hips lifted to meet his, our bodies slapping together with a wet, rhythmic sound that filled the quiet office. The desk felt cool against my back, a strange contrast to the burning heat between my legs.

“Look at me, Amelia,” he commanded softly. I opened my eyes, meeting his gaze. His eyes were wild with passion, a raw, raw desire that mirrored my own. He watched my face as he continued to thrust, his eyes fixed on my reactions, deriving pleasure from my pleasure.

My climax built swiftly, a tidal wave of sensation. Each thrust sent sparks through me, building higher and higher. My muscles tensed, my back arched, and I cried out as the orgasm ripped through me, hot and intense, shaking my entire body. I gripped his shoulders, my nails digging into his skin, as wave after wave of pleasure washed over me.

He groaned, his own climax hitting hard and fast, a deep, shuddering release. He buried his face in my neck, his body shaking with the force of his orgasm. He collapsed on top of me, his weight heavy and comforting, his breath hot against my skin.

We lay there for a long moment, our bodies intertwined, the only sounds our ragged breaths. Slowly, our heartbeats returned to normal. He lifted his head, his eyes soft and hazy with post-coital bliss. He leaned down and kissed me, a tender, lingering kiss that was full of affection.

“That was… unexpected,” I murmured, a soft laugh escaping me.

He smiled, a genuine, warm smile that transformed his face. “Unexpected, but not unwelcome, I hope?”

“Definitely not unwelcome,” I replied, running my fingers through his damp hair. “Not at all.”

He shifted, pulling out of me slowly, reluctantly. I felt a pang of loss, but he immediately rolled onto his side, pulling me close, spooning me against his body. My back was still against the desk, but now his front was pressed against my back, his arm wrapped around my waist.

“We should probably get dressed,” I said after a moment, though I made no move to get up. The thought of leaving his warm embrace, leaving this moment, was unappealing.

“Mmm, maybe,” he murmured, his lips brushing my hair. “In a little while.” He pressed a kiss to my shoulder. “For now, let’s just stay like this.”

And we did. We lay there, naked on his desk, in the quiet, deserted office, the city lights twinkling outside the window. The tension that had simmered between us for months, for years, had finally snapped, erupting into something raw and beautiful. It was late, but for the first time in a long time, I didn’t care about the time, or the pile of work waiting on my desk. All I cared about was the warmth of Daniel’s body against mine, the quiet thrum of his heartbeat, and the promise of whatever came next.

Eventually, we did get dressed, slowly, self-consciously, the reality of our surroundings beginning to seep back in. The professionalism, the hierarchy, the unspoken rules. But something had fundamentally changed. The air between us was different, charged with a new, thrilling intimacy.

As I gathered my things, Daniel walked me to the elevator. The ride down was silent, but not awkward. His hand brushed mine once, lightly, a subtle affirmation of what had just transpired. When we reached the lobby, he turned to me.

“Amelia,” he said, his voice low. “I… I don’t regret any of that.”

I looked up at him, a small smile playing on my lips. “Neither do I, Daniel.”

He hesitated, then leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead. “Get home safe. I’ll text you.”

I nodded, feeling a blush creep up my neck. “You too.”

I walked out into the cool night air, feeling strangely light. The city was quiet, a few cars still driving by, but mostly just the noise of the distant highway. My phone vibrated in my hand. It was a text from Daniel. “Still thinking about you. See you Monday.” A thrill went through me. Monday. The office would be a different place entirely. And so would we.
