Late Office Hours

Office Fantasy 11 min read 2996 words

“You staying late again, Mark?” Sarah’s voice cut through the quiet of the nearly empty office, making me jump. I’d been so focused on the quarterly report, I hadn’t heard her approach.

I looked up, blinking against the harsh overhead lights. “Yeah, just trying to get these numbers to balance out. You heading out?”

She leaned against the doorframe of my cubicle, a stack of folders hugged to her chest. Her dark hair, usually pulled back in a neat bun, had escaped in a few soft tendrils around her face. “Almost. Just dropping these off in Miller’s office, then I’m gone. Don’t work too hard.” A small smile played on her lips, one that always seemed to hold a hint of something more, something knowing.

“Right,” I muttered, turning back to my screen, the numbers blurring slightly. Sarah was… a distraction. A very attractive, very competent distraction. She was a project manager, two levels above me, and we often found ourselves the last two souls haunting the office after five. It had been happening for months now, this slow, simmering awareness between us, a quiet understanding that grew with each shared late-night coffee and every accidental brush of hands near the printer.

She disappeared down the hall, her sensible heels making soft, rhythmic clicks that faded into the general office drone. I tried to refocus, but my mind kept replaying her smile, the way her eyes crinkled at the corners. It was an idiotic crush, really. She was out of my league, professionally and, I assumed, personally. But that didn’t stop the current that ran through me whenever she was near.

About ten minutes later, I heard her steps again, closer this time. I braced myself, my fingers hovering over the keyboard. She stopped at my cubicle entrance. “Still here, huh?”

“Still here,” I echoed, finally looking at her. She had shed the folders, her hands now tucked into the pockets of her fitted black trousers. Her white blouse was unbuttoned at the top, revealing just a hint of collarbone.

“The office is practically a ghost town,” she said, her voice softer now, a little conspiratorial. “Even Miller packed it in. Said he had a dinner thing.”

“Lucky him,” I said, trying for a light tone. “I’ve got… these numbers.” I gestured vaguely at my monitor.

She stepped into my cubicle, a bold move. It was a small space, and suddenly, it felt even smaller. The air shifted, thick with unspoken things. “You look like you’re about to declare war on that spreadsheet,” she observed, leaning over my desk, her elbow brushing against a stack of papers. A faint, pleasant scent – something like sandalwood and clean linen – wafted from her.

“It’s winning,” I admitted, a small, genuine laugh escaping me. “I can’t find the discrepancy.”

She peered at my screen, her face close enough that I could see the faint freckles on her nose. “Let me see.” She moved closer, her hip bumping gently against my chair. I froze, every nerve ending suddenly hyper-aware of the contact. She scrolled through the data, her brow furrowed in concentration.

“Ah, here,” she said, pointing to a cell. Her finger, warm and slender, grazed my hand as she did. “You’ve got a formula error here. It’s pulling from the wrong quarter.”

I stared at the screen, then at her. “How did I miss that?” I felt like an idiot, but also… grateful. And very, very aware of her proximity.

“Long day, I guess,” she murmured, straightening up. Her eyes met mine, and for a long moment, neither of us said anything. The quiet stretched, not uncomfortable, but charged. It was the kind of quiet that precedes a storm, or a confession.

“Thanks, Sarah,” I finally managed, my voice a little rougher than I intended. “You just saved my evening.”

She smiled again, that knowing smile. “My pleasure. Now, you can go home and get some rest.” She took a step back, but her gaze lingered on my face.

“Or,” I said, the words tumbling out before I could censor them, “I could buy you a drink to say thanks.” My heart hammered in my chest, a frantic drumbeat against my ribs. It was now or never.

Her smile widened. “A drink, huh? It’s pretty late, Mark.” But there was no rejection in her tone, only curiosity. And something else, something I couldn’t quite name, but that made my stomach flip.

“Just one,” I pressed, feeling a surge of reckless confidence. “There’s that place around the corner. It’s still open.”

She hesitated for a beat, her eyes searching mine. Then, she nodded slowly. “Alright, Mark. One drink. Let me just grab my bag.”

As she walked away, I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. Holy shit. This was happening. I quickly saved my work, shut down my computer, and gathered my things, my hands trembling slightly. When I met her by the elevators, she had a small black clutch slung over her shoulder. She looked… different. Not just because she wasn’t holding folders. Her expression was softer, less guarded. The office facade was starting to crack.

The bar around the corner was dim and cozy, a stark contrast to the sterile office. We found a booth in the back, away from the few other patrons. The low lighting made her eyes seem even darker, more mysterious. We ordered two beers, and for a while, we talked about work, the usual office politics, the looming deadlines. But the conversation felt like a preamble, a polite formality before the real discussion could begin.

“So,” she said, setting her glass down, her fingers tracing the condensation on the outside. “You really think Miller’s going to go for that new marketing strategy?”

I leaned forward, lowering my voice. “Honestly? I think he’ll pretend to consider it, then greenlight his own watered-down version, just so he can take credit.” We both chuckled, a shared understanding of our boss’s ego.

“Sounds about right,” she agreed, taking a sip of her beer. “You know, I always liked your ideas, Mark. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders.”

My face warmed at the compliment. “Thanks, Sarah. Same to you. You always seem to know how to cut through the noise and get things done.”

We fell into a comfortable silence, just watching each other. The ambient noise of the bar faded into the background. It felt like we were in our own bubble, the rest of the world distant and unimportant. Her gaze was intense, unwavering, and it felt like she was seeing straight through me.

“You know,” she began, her voice a little lower now, “I’ve noticed you staying late a lot. And I’ve noticed you notice me.”

My heart skipped a beat. “Is it that obvious?” I asked, a nervous laugh escaping me.

She smiled, a slow, knowing curve of her lips. “To me, yes. I’ve noticed you watching me when you think I’m not looking. And I’ve noticed the way you always seem to be around when I’m getting coffee.”

I felt a blush creep up my neck. “Guilty as charged, I guess.”

“Good,” she said, her eyes twinkling. “Because I’ve been doing the same.”

That admission hit me like a physical blow, in the best possible way. “You have?”

“Of course,” she said, her voice dropping to a near whisper. “You think I’m just oblivious? You think I don’t notice when you wear that blue shirt that makes your eyes look… well, like that?” She gestured vaguely at my face. “Or how you always bring in those little pastries on Fridays? Or how you always manage to fix the printer when no one else can?”

I was speechless. She had noticed all that. All those small, insignificant things I thought were just part of my daily routine, or attempts to be helpful, or just… me.

“I… I didn’t know,” I stammered.

She reached across the table, her hand covering mine. Her skin was soft, warm. “Now you do.” Her thumb stroked the back of my hand gently. The contact sent a jolt through me, a pleasant shock that spread through my arm and settled in my chest.

“So,” I said, my voice a little breathless, “what do we do about it?”

Her smile was sensual now, full of promise. “Well, the office is definitely not the place for it.” She squeezed my hand. “But my apartment is only a few blocks from here.”

My mind raced. This was it. The moment I’d been secretly wishing for, fantasizing about, for months. “Are you… are you serious?”

“Have I ever given you reason to believe I’m not?” she challenged, her eyes still locked on mine. There was an unspoken question there, a challenge, a dare.

I shook my head, feeling a surge of desire, raw and potent. “No. No, you haven’t.” I returned the squeeze of her hand. “Then let’s go.”

We paid the bill quickly, a quiet understanding passing between us. As we walked out of the bar and into the cool night air, the city lights seemed to blur around us. We didn’t say much, just walked side by side, her hand still occasionally brushing mine. The anticipation was thick, a palpable hum between us.

Her apartment building was modern, with a sleek, minimalist lobby. We rode the elevator in silence, the only sound the soft hum of the machinery and the pounding of my own heart. When we stepped out onto her floor, she fumbled with her keys, her movements a little shaky.

She pushed open her apartment door, and I followed her in. The space was beautifully decorated, warm and inviting, with soft lighting and a plush rug. It felt personal, intimate, a world away from the fluorescent glare of the office.

She turned to me, her back against the closed door, and her arms wrapped around my neck. Her body pressed against mine, soft and yielding. “Finally,” she whispered, her breath warm against my ear.

My hands found her waist, pulling her closer. Her lips met mine, tentatively at first, then with a sudden urgency that took my breath away. Her mouth was soft, tasting faintly of beer and something sweet. I deepened the kiss, my tongue exploring the contours of her mouth, and she responded eagerly, her body molding against mine.

Her fingers tangled in my hair, pulling gently. I groaned into the kiss, my desire escalating rapidly. This was not a polite, office-friendly kiss. This was raw, hungry, and thrilling. My hands roamed her back, feeling the delicate curve of her spine beneath her blouse. I wanted to feel her skin, to shed the layers of professionalism that had kept us apart for so long.

She pulled back slightly, her breathing ragged. Her eyes, still dark and intense, looked up at me. “Take me to the bedroom,” she murmured, her voice husky.

I didn’t need to be told twice. I scooped her into my arms, surprising myself with the ease of it. She laughed, a soft, throaty sound that sent shivers down my spine. She wrapped her legs around my waist, holding on tight as I carried her through a short hallway and into a dimly lit bedroom.

I lowered her onto the bed, her body sinking into the soft mattress. She lay there, looking up at me, her chest rising and falling quickly. Her blouse was slightly disheveled from our embrace, and her hair was a delightful mess. She looked wild and beautiful.

I leaned over her, bracing myself on my hands, my eyes devouring her. “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do this,” I confessed, my voice thick with emotion.

“Oh, I think I do,” she countered, her fingers tracing the line of my jaw. “It’s been a long time coming for both of us, hasn’t it?”

I nodded, unable to speak. I leaned down and kissed her again, slower this time, more deliberate. My lips explored her neck, the sensitive skin behind her ear. She arched into my touch, a soft moan escaping her.

My hands went to the buttons of her blouse, fumbling slightly in my eagerness. She helped me, her fingers working quickly to undo the small pearls. When it was open, I pushed the fabric aside, revealing the delicate lace of her bra. It was black, a stark contrast to her pale skin, and exquisitely feminine.

I peeled off my own shirt, tossing it onto the floor. Her eyes lingered on my chest, a spark of approval in their depths. I felt a surge of pride, a primitive satisfaction at her reaction.

She reached up, her fingers unhooking her bra with practiced ease. The cups fell away, revealing her full, round breasts. They were magnificent, tipped with soft, rose-colored nipples that hardened instantly under my gaze.

I lowered my head, my mouth closing over one, suckling gently. She gasped, her body arching off the bed. Her hands gripped my hair, holding me close. I teased her with my tongue, circling the sensitive peak, then drawing it into my mouth, suckling harder. She whimpered, a sound of pure pleasure that fueled my own desire.

I moved to the other breast, giving it the same devoted attention, while my free hand roamed her body, tracing the curve of her waist, the flare of her hip. I felt the soft fabric of her trousers, and a new wave of urgency washed over me. I wanted to feel her bare skin against mine.

She pulled my head up, her eyes bright with passion. “Let’s get rid of these clothes, Mark,” she breathed, her voice a little shaky. “All of them.”

We stripped each other slowly, deliberately, each piece of clothing a barrier removed, a boundary dissolved. Her trousers, my jeans, her panties, my boxers. They all joined the discarded blouse and shirt on the floor, forming a small, intimate pile.

When we were both naked, I lay beside her, our bodies touching from shoulder to thigh. Her skin was incredibly soft, warm, and responsive. I ran my hand down her side, over her hip, to the soft curve of her thigh. She shivered under my touch.

“You’re beautiful, Sarah,” I whispered, meaning every word. Her body was perfect, soft curves and taut lines, proof of her strength and femininity.

She blushed, a lovely flush that spread across her chest. “You’re not so bad yourself, Mark.” Her hand moved to my erection, stroking it gently. The sensation was exquisite, a jolt of pure pleasure that made me groan.

“I want you,” I confessed, my voice raw with longing.

“I want you too,” she responded, her fingers tightening around me. “More than you know.”

I rolled onto my side, propping myself on one elbow, and leaned in to kiss her again. This kiss was deeper, more raw. Our tongues tangled, our breaths mingled. Her hands found their way to my buttocks, pulling me closer, urging me to press against her.

I moved over her, positioning myself between her legs. Her thighs parted, inviting me in. The friction of our skin, the undeniable heat emanating from her, was almost unbearable. I paused, looking down at her, wanting to savor this moment, this threshold we were about to cross.

Her eyes were wide, her pupils dilated with desire. “Please, Mark,” she whispered, her voice a plea. “Don’t make me wait any longer.”

I entered her slowly, carefully, feeling her stretch and enclose me. She was wet and tight, a perfect fit. I closed my eyes for a moment, savoring the sensation, the incredible warmth, the feeling of finally being where I was meant to be.

She let out a soft cry, her legs wrapping around my waist, pulling me deeper. I began to move, a slow, deliberate rhythm at first, then picking up speed as our bodies found their own cadence. Her hips rose to meet mine, her moans growing louder, more frequent.

I watched her face as I moved inside her, seeing the passion, the pleasure, the abandonment of all office decorum. Her eyes were half-closed, her lips parted, her cheeks flushed. She was utterly beautiful, utterly consumed by the moment.

“Mark,” she gasped, her nails digging into my shoulders. “Oh, Mark.”

I pushed deeper, faster, feeling the tension build within me, within her. Our bodies glistened with sweat, our breaths ragged and hitched. The bed creaked with our movements, the only sound in the quiet apartment, apart from our escalating moans and gasps.

I felt her clench around me, a series of powerful contractions that signaled her release. She cried out, her body arching high off the bed, her legs trembling around my waist. I watched her, feeling the rush of her climax, and it pushed me over the edge. I groaned, burying my face in her neck, and emptied myself inside her, feeling the incredible release ripple through my body.

We lay there for a long time, tangled together, our breaths slowly returning to normal. Her head rested on my shoulder, her hand tracing lazy patterns on my chest. The aftermath was sweet, a heavy, contented silence.

“Wow,” she finally whispered, her voice soft and a little hoarse. “That was… quite the quarterly review.”

I chuckled, kissing the top of her head. “Best one I’ve ever had.”

She shifted, looking up at me, a playful glint in her eyes. “So, about that formula error…”

I laughed again, a full, uninhibited laugh. “I think we fixed it. Permanently.”

She snuggled closer, her body warm against mine. “Good. Because I think we might have just started a new project, Mark.”

“I think we did,” I agreed, pulling the duvet over us. The office felt like a lifetime ago, a distant memory. In the warmth of her bed, in the intimacy of her apartment, I realized that the real work was just beginning. And for the first time in a long time, I was actually looking forward to the next day.
