Barefoot on Sofa

Brat 11 min read 2824 words

“You think you’re so smart, don’t you?” Lena asked, her voice a low purr that always got under my skin. She was sprawled across the sofa, one bare foot propped on the armrest, the other dangling precariously close to my half-eaten pizza. I’d spent twenty minutes making that pizza, carefully arranging the pepperoni, just the way she liked it.

I didn't look up from my phone immediately. That was part of the game. If I reacted too quickly, she’d escalate. So I waited, counting to three in my head. “Smarter than someone who can’t keep their feet off the furniture, certainly,” I replied, my tone deliberately even. I knew it would annoy her. It always did.

She snorted, a small, dismissive sound. “Oh, look at Mr. Proper. Did I just disturb your intellectual musings?” She tapped her foot against the armrest, a light, rhythmic beat that felt like a challenge. “Or were you just scrolling through pictures of other girls again?”

I finally looked at her. Her dark hair was a mess, spilling over the cushions, and her eyes, usually so sharp and direct, were half-lidded with feigned boredom. She was wearing one of my old t-shirts, the faded band logo stretching tight across her chest. It was a calculated move, I knew. She knew exactly how good she looked in my clothes. “You know I don’t do that,” I said, and a flicker of something – satisfaction? – crossed her face. My admission of innocence, however reluctant, was a win for her.

“Do I?” she countered, a wicked smirk playing on her lips. “I just know you spend a lot of time on that little device. More time than you spend appreciating the magnificent specimen currently gracing your living room with her presence.” She gestured vaguely at herself, her hand tracing the curve of her hip through the soft cotton of the shirt. It was a blatant invitation, and we both knew it.

“The magnificent specimen who’s about to get kicked off the sofa if she doesn’t move her foot,” I said, taking another bite of pizza. I tried to sound stern, but the corners of my mouth were twitching. She was good at this, too good. She knew how to push my buttons until I was just on the edge of exasperation, and then, inevitably, amusement.

Lena’s eyes narrowed, a playful glint in their depths. “Oh, a threat, is it? And what exactly are you going to do, big man? Throw me over your shoulder? Lock me in the dungeon?” She laughed, a bright, clear sound that somehow managed to be both irritating and incredibly alluring. “You wouldn’t dare.”

“Don’t test me,” I warned, but my voice lacked conviction. She knew I wouldn’t. Not yet, anyway. The tension was building, a delicate dance we’d perfected over months. She’d push, I’d resist, and then, eventually, one of us would break.

She swung her legs off the sofa, landing with a soft thud on the rug. Instead of moving away, she padded over to me, her bare feet silent on the wood floor. She stopped right in front of me, leaning down so her face was level with mine. Her breath was sweet with the faint taste of mint, and I could feel the warmth radiating from her body. “I’m testing you,” she whispered, her voice husky. “I’m always testing you. And you always fold.”

I put my phone down, slowly, deliberately. Her eyes followed the movement. “Not always,” I said, my voice lower than I intended. The air in the room suddenly felt heavier, charged with something palpable. This was what she wanted, this slow, deliberate build-up. This was the moment she craved, when the playful banter gave way to something more raw.

“Oh? Prove it,” she challenged, her lips barely an inch from mine. She was practically daring me to kiss her, daring me to take control. But I knew better. If I kissed her now, she’d twist away, laughing. That wasn’t the game. The game was about making her want it, making her beg for it, even if she’d never admit it.

I reached out, not to her face, but to her waist, my fingers brushing against the soft cotton of my t-shirt. She shivered, a tiny, involuntary movement. That was my cue. “You’re messing with the wrong guy tonight, Lena,” I said, my voice firm. I looked into her eyes, letting my gaze hold hers. She still had that challenging glint, but there was something else there now, too. A flicker of anticipation. A hint of surrender.

“Am I?” she breathed, her lips parting slightly. Her eyes dropped to my mouth, then back up to mine. The silence stretched, thick and heavy. I could hear my own heartbeat, a steady thump against my ribs. This was it. The moment of truth.

Without another word, I stood up, pushing past her so she had to take a step back. She looked surprised, and a little annoyed. That was good. “Where are you going?” she asked, her voice a little sharper than before. She didn't like being ignored, not when she was in the middle of her performance.

“To clean up,” I said, gesturing vaguely at the pizza box. “Then I’m going to bed. Alone.” I walked past her into the kitchen, the sound of my footsteps echoing in the sudden quiet. I could feel her eyes on my back, burning into me. This was a gamble. A big one. She was used to getting her way, used to having me fall into her trap.

I heard a frustrated sigh from the living room. Then, footsteps. Quick, angry footsteps. She appeared in the kitchen doorway, her arms crossed, a pout on her face. “You’re seriously just going to leave me here?” she demanded. “After all that?”

I turned to face her, leaning against the counter. “After all what, Lena? You being difficult? You teasing me? You acting like a brat?” I raised an eyebrow, letting the words hang in the air. Her pout deepened. She hated being called a brat, even though she absolutely was one.

“I wasn’t being difficult,” she grumbled. “I was… having fun.”

“Fun for you, maybe,” I said, picking up the pizza box. “Less fun for me. Sometimes, I just want a quiet night. Without the constant… performance.” I knew I was being unfair, but it was part of the tactic. She needed to feel like she’d pushed too far, that her usual tricks weren't working.

She walked closer, her anger slowly dissipating, replaced by a different kind of intensity. “But you like my performance,” she whispered, her voice soft, almost vulnerable. “You love it.”

I didn’t answer immediately. I just looked at her, letting my silence do the work. Her shoulders slumped slightly. She was losing her confidence, and I knew that was when she was most susceptible. “Sometimes,” I admitted, finally. “But sometimes, I just want you to be… quiet.”

Her eyes widened slightly. “Quiet?” she repeated, as if the word was foreign to her. “Me? Quiet?” She scoffed, a small, disbelieving sound. “You know that’s impossible.”

“Is it?” I challenged, pushing off the counter. I took a step towards her, then another, until she was backed up against the kitchen table. Her hands were still crossed, but her stance was less defiant now. Her eyes, however, still held that spark, that underlying desire for a fight. Or something more.

“Yes,” she said, her voice a little breathy. “It is. I like to talk. I like to… express myself.”

“I know,” I said, my voice low. “And sometimes, I like to listen. But sometimes, Lena, I want you to listen to me.” I reached out, slowly, and put my hands on her hips, pulling her gently against me. She gasped, a small, surprised sound. Her hands finally uncrossed, resting tentatively on my chest.

“And what do you want me to listen to?” she asked, her gaze fixed on my lips. The battle was almost won. She was right where I wanted her.

“I want you to listen to what happens when you push me too far,” I murmured, leaning down until my lips were brushing against her ear. “I want you to listen to how much I want to shut that mouth of yours.”

She shivered again, a full-body tremor this time. “Is that a threat?” she whispered, but her voice held no real fear. Only excitement. “Or a promise?”

I pulled back just enough to look into her eyes. “It’s whatever I decide it is, tonight,” I said, my voice firm, leaving no room for argument. Her eyes were wide now, pupils dilated. She was completely focused on me, all her usual playful defiance gone. This was the moment. The moment she’d been waiting for, even if she wouldn’t admit it.

I didn't give her a chance to respond. I kissed her, hard and deep, a claiming kiss that left no doubt about who was in charge. Her lips were soft and yielding, tasting faintly of the pizza we’d shared. She made a small sound in the back of her throat, a soft moan that was music to my ears. Her hands moved from my chest, circling my neck, pulling me closer still.

She was melting into me, her body pliant and responsive. This was the payoff, the reward for holding out, for making her work for it. Her usual playful resistance was gone, replaced by an eager hunger that matched my own. Her tongue danced with mine, a desperate, insistent rhythm. I pulled her tighter against me, pressing my hips into hers, letting her feel the undeniable proof of my desire.

Her fingers tangled in my hair, tugging gently. She broke the kiss, breathless, her chest heaving. “You took your sweet time,” she whispered, her eyes still heavy-lidded. “I thought you were actually going to leave me here.”

“And let you win?” I scoffed, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. “Never. You know how much I hate losing to you.”

She smiled, a slow, sensual smile that made my stomach clench. “But you like it when I make you work for it, don’t you?” she challenged, a flicker of her old defiance returning. It was a reflex, I knew. A habit. But it was weaker now, tempered by the heat between us.

“I like it when you get what’s coming to you,” I corrected, my voice a low growl. I scooped her up into my arms, surprising her with the sudden movement. She gasped, a small squeal of delight, wrapping her legs around my waist. She was lighter than she looked, but still a solid, warm weight against me.

I carried her out of the kitchen, through the living room, and towards the bedroom. Her head rested on my shoulder, her breath warm against my neck. “So, what’s ‘coming to me’?” she murmured, her voice husky with anticipation. Her fingers traced the line of my jaw, a light, teasing touch.

I didn’t answer with words. Instead, I pushed open the bedroom door with my foot, the sound echoing softly in the quiet room. The moonlight streamed in through the window, casting long shadows across the floor. I walked straight to the bed, lowering her gently onto the soft mattress. She landed with a small bounce, her hair fanning out around her head.

I leaned over her, bracing my hands on either side of her head, trapping her. Her eyes were wide, sparkling in the dim light. She was completely at my mercy, and she knew it. The look on her face, a mixture of surrender and excitement, was heady. This was why I put up with her games. This was the reward.

“This,” I whispered, leaning down to kiss her again, a slow, deliberate kiss that promised everything. Her lips parted eagerly, her tongue meeting mine with a soft urgency. Her hands rose, pulling at the hem of my t-shirt, a quiet invitation. I slipped it over my head, tossing it onto the floor, then reached for hers. She lifted her arms, helping me remove the fabric, her eyes never leaving mine.

“You always make me work for it,” she said, her voice a little shaky as I discarded her shirt. Her bra was next, a simple lace affair that offered little in the way of modesty. I unhooked it with one hand, letting it fall away. Her breasts, full and soft, rose and fell with her quickened breathing.

“And you always complain about it,” I countered, my fingers brushing against the soft skin of her stomach, making her shiver. “But you love it, don’t you? The chase?”

She let out a soft moan as my hand slipped lower, tracing the curve of her hip. “Maybe a little,” she admitted, her voice barely a whisper. “It makes it… more exciting.”

“Good,” I said, my voice rough with desire. “Because tonight, you’re going to be very excited.” I leaned down, kissing the sensitive skin just below her ear, then trailed my lips down her neck, tasting her skin. She arched into me, her fingers digging into my shoulders.

Her jeans were next, a tight, faded pair that I unbuttoned with practiced ease. She lifted her hips, helping me slide them down her legs, along with her underwear. She was utterly bare now, exposed to the moonlight and my hungry gaze. Her skin glowed, pale and inviting. I took a moment to just look at her, to appreciate the beautiful, defiant woman beneath me.

“Are you just going to stare?” she asked, a hint of her old impatience returning. But it was laced with something else now, something softer, more vulnerable. She wanted me to take control, to stop the teasing, to finally give her what she craved.

“No,” I said, my voice thick with desire. “I’m going to make you wish you hadn’t been such a brat all day.” I leaned down, my lips finding the sensitive skin of her inner thigh. She gasped, her body tensing, then relaxing into the pleasure. This was the moment I’d been waiting for, the moment when her playful defiance gave way to pure, unadulterated need.

Her hands tangled in my hair, pulling me closer. “You’re such a bully,” she whispered, but her voice was breathless, filled with a pleasure that belied her words. Her hips began to move, a slow, sensual sway, urging me on. She was no longer fighting me, no longer playing games. She was simply Lena, raw and open and wanting.

“And you love it,” I murmured against her skin, my tongue tracing a path upwards, towards the heat between her legs. She cried out, a soft, involuntary sound. The sound of her pleasure was a powerful aphrodisiac, fueling my own desire. This was the reward for enduring her antics, for waiting for the perfect moment. This was the moment she finally surrendered, not with words, but with her body, with every gasp and every tremor.

I worked my magic, savoring her moans, her whispered pleas. She was completely lost in the sensation, her body arching and twisting beneath me. Her fingers dug into my shoulders, her nails leaving faint red marks on my skin. She was completely uninhibited, all her usual carefully constructed defenses crumbling away under the pull of her own pleasure.

“Please,” she whimpered, her voice hoarse, her body trembling. “Please, I can’t… I can’t take it anymore.”

I finally pulled away, just enough to look into her flushed face. Her eyes were unfocused, heavy-lidded with desire. Her lips were swollen, parted slightly, and her breath came in short, sharp gasps. This was the Lena I loved, the one who shed her playful defiance and revealed the raw, passionate woman beneath. “You’re finally begging,” I said, my voice rough. “Just like I knew you would.”

She shook her head slightly, a small, helpless gesture. “I hate you,” she whispered, but her hands were pulling me back down, desperate for my touch. Her body was a roadmap of pleasure, every inch of her skin alive and craving.

“No, you don’t,” I said, my lips brushing against hers. “You love me. And you love it when I make you behave.” I positioned myself between her legs, pressing against her, letting her feel the full extent of my arousal. She gasped, her eyes flying open, fixed on mine.

“Behave?” she repeated, a hint of her old defiance returning, even now. “I’m not going to behave. Not for you. Not for anyone.”

“Oh, you will,” I promised, my voice a low growl. “You absolutely will.” And then I pushed into her, slowly, deliberately, savoring her gasp, her shuddering breath. She was tight, hot, and completely mine. Her legs wrapped around my waist, pulling me deeper, her body accommodating mine with an almost desperate eagerness. The playful battle was over. The surrender was complete. And the pleasure, for both of us, had just begun.
