Orange Peel

Brat 10 min read 2545 words

“Are you even listening to me?” David’s voice was a low thrum against the kitchen’s clatter. Chloe, perched on the counter with her legs dangling, was meticulously peeling an orange. Each strip of zest she pulled away was a tiny act of defiance.

“Of course, I’m listening, darling,” she chirped, her eyes wide and innocent as she popped a segment into her mouth. “Something about… the big meeting tomorrow? And how I absolutely, under no circumstances, should be a distraction?” She mimed a thoughtful pose, hand on chin, before winking at him. “Did I get it right?”

David ran a hand over his face, a gesture that usually meant he was either exasperated or trying to suppress a smile. With Chloe, it was often both. “You’re close. It was more about how I need a clear head, and your usual antics tend to… cloud things.” He leaned against the fridge, arms crossed, trying for sternness but failing when her eyes crinkled at the corners. She knew exactly what she was doing.

“My ‘antics’ are what keep life interesting,” she countered, tossing a piece of peel at his shoulder. It landed with a soft plink against his shirt. He didn’t flinch. He just watched her, a slow burn starting in his eyes that made her stomach flutter. This was the game. She started it, he responded. It was their dance, and she loved leading.

“Interesting, yes,” he agreed, his voice dropping a notch. “Productive for a major presentation? Less so.” He pushed off the fridge, taking a step towards her. Her heart gave a little skip. This was it. The moment where he started to close the distance, physically and metaphorically, between her playful rebellion and his simmering control.

She held up a hand, a theatrical gesture. “Ah, ah, ah. You said no distractions. And my presence, apparently, is the ultimate distraction.” She hopped off the counter, landing softly. She moved past him, her hip brushing his, and he tensed. She smiled to herself. Good. She was getting to him.

“Where are you going?” he asked, his voice a little rougher now. He turned, tracking her as she sashayed towards the living room, swaying her hips just a fraction more than necessary. She heard him sigh, a sound of profound resignation that was music to her ears.

“To find something to occupy myself that won’t ‘cloud your head’,” she called over her shoulder, her tone overly sweet. She knew exactly what would cloud his head, and it wasn’t a jigsaw puzzle. She was going to make him want to forget all about his meeting.

She settled onto the sofa, picking up her phone and scrolling idly, but her attention was entirely on him. He followed her, of course. He always did. He stood in the archway, just watching her, and she could feel the pull of his stare. It wasn’t angry, not exactly. It was more… calculating. Like a predator observing its prey, deciding on the precise moment to strike.

“You know what you’re doing, Chloe,” he said, his voice quiet. It was a statement, not a question. She looked up, meeting his gaze with an innocent blink.

“I’m scrolling through pictures of kittens, David. Is that so terrible?” She exaggerated a pout, knowing it would annoy him. He hated when she played dumb. He knew she was smart, sharp, and entirely aware of the game they played.

He pushed off the doorframe, walking slowly towards the sofa. Each step was deliberate. She didn’t move, didn’t flinch, just watched him approach, her phone forgotten in her lap. Her breath hitched slightly. This was the part she loved, the slow build, the anticipation of him finally losing his patience.

He stopped in front of her, looking down. She tilted her head back, meeting his eyes. “What?” she whispered, her voice intentionally small. It was a lie, of course. She knew exactly what. She wanted to hear him say it. She wanted to see him finally crack.

“You’re trying to provoke me,” he said, his voice low, his eyes dark. “And it’s working.” He reached out, slowly, and took the phone from her hand, setting it gently on the coffee table. The soft click of the screen going dark was loud in the sudden silence.

She just smiled, a small, knowing curve of her lips. “Is that a complaint?” she asked, her voice a little breathy now. The heat from his body was radiating off him, enveloping her. She could smell the faint, clean scent of his aftershave, and something else, something uniquely him, that always made her feel safe and dangerous all at once.

He leaned down, bracing his hands on the sofa beside her head, trapping her. Her breath hitched. His face was inches from hers, his eyes burning into hers. “It’s a warning,” he murmured, his voice a low growl. “You push, I push back. Harder.”

Her smile widened. “Promises, promises.” She reached up, slowly, her fingers tracing the line of his jaw. His skin was warm beneath her touch. She felt a shiver run through him, subtle but present. She had him. She always did.

He caught her wrist, his grip firm but not painful. “You think this is a game, don’t you?” he asked, his voice rough. He didn’t wait for an answer. “It is. And you’re about to lose.”

She laughed, a bright, defiant sound. “Oh, I don’t think so. I’m just getting started.” She pulled at her wrist, trying to free it, but his grip tightened. His thumb rubbed over her pulse point, a slow, hypnotic motion that sent a different kind of shiver through her.

“You like to test me,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “You like to see how far you can go before I snap.” His eyes flickered down to her lips, then back up to her eyes. “Don’t you?”

“Maybe,” she admitted, her voice softer now, less teasing, more yielding. The proximity, the intensity of his gaze, was starting to get to her. This was the precipice she loved to teeter on.

He released her wrist, only to cup her face in his hands. His thumbs stroked her cheekbones, gently, possessively. “And when I snap?” he asked, his voice a low rumble. “What then?”

She swallowed, her throat suddenly dry. “Then… you show me who’s boss.” The words came out a little breathy, a little desperate. The game had shifted. She was no longer just the provocateur. She was the one being cornered, and the thrill of it was heady.

He smiled then, a slow, predatory smile that made her toes curl. “Is that what you want, little rebel?” he whispered, his lips brushing hers. “For me to show you?”

She nodded, unable to speak. His lips finally met hers, a gentle press at first, then deepening, demanding. Her hands went to his shoulders, clinging to him as the kiss became more insistent, more passionate. It was everything she craved, the culmination of all her teasing and defiance.

His hands slid from her face to her neck, then down, tracing the curve of her spine, pulling her closer until there was no space left between them. She arched into him, pressing her body against his, feeling the hard lines of his muscles, the heat of his desire.

He broke the kiss, pulling back just enough to look into her eyes, his breathing heavy. “You think you can get away with anything, don’t you?” he asked, his voice hoarse. “Think again.”

Before she could respond, he scooped her up, one arm under her knees, the other supporting her back. She gasped, a surprised laugh escaping her lips as he carried her effortlessly. “David!” she exclaimed, feigning outrage, but her arms were already wrapped around his neck, holding on tight.

He carried her out of the living room, down the short hallway, and into their bedroom. The low light from the bedside lamp cast long shadows, making the room feel intimate and hushed. He didn’t set her down gently. He practically tossed her onto the bed, a playful but firm action that made her bounce once before settling into the soft mattress.

She lay there, looking up at him as he stood over her, his chest heaving slightly. His eyes were dark with desire, but also with a hint of exasperation. She knew that look. It meant he was well and truly fed up with her antics, and ready to put her in her place.

“So, this is the ‘showing me who’s boss’ part?” she asked, a mischievous glint in her eyes. She was still pushing, still testing, even now. It was a reflex, a fundamental part of who she was.

He knelt on the bed, straddling her hips, his weight pressing her into the mattress. She felt a jolt of heat spread through her. “Oh, this is just the beginning,” he murmured, his voice a low, dangerous growl. He reached out, his fingers going to the buttons of her blouse.

She watched him, her heart hammering against her ribs. He worked slowly, deliberately, unbuttoning each one. His eyes never left hers, a quiet promise in their depths. She felt a sharp shiver. This was it. This was what she wanted, what she provoked him for. The moment his patience snapped, and his desire took over.

When the last button was undone, he pushed the fabric aside, revealing the delicate lace of her bra. He didn’t remove it immediately. He just looked, his gaze lingering, appreciating. She felt exposed, vulnerable, and thrillingly desired.

“You love doing this, don’t you?” he asked, his voice raspy. “Making me lose my mind.”

She swallowed, her voice a little shaky. “It’s… fun.”

He leaned down, his lips finding the hollow of her throat. “Fun for you, maybe,” he muttered, his breath warm against her skin. He kissed his way down, over her collarbone, to the edge of her bra. She arched her back, giving him better access, a soft moan escaping her lips.

His hands went to the clasp of her bra, and with a soft click, it came undone. He pushed the straps off her shoulders, letting the lace fall away. Her breasts spilled free, and she felt a blush creep up her neck. Even after all this time, the raw intimacy of it still made her a little shy.

But he wasn’t shy. His eyes devoured her, and then his mouth followed. He took one nipple into his mouth, suckling gently, sending a jolt of pure pleasure through her. She gasped, her fingers tangling in his hair, holding him close.

“Is this enough distraction for your meeting?” she managed to pant out, her voice thick with desire. She was still trying to tease, even as her body betrayed her with its eagerness.

He pulled away, looking at her, a smirk playing on his lips. “Not nearly,” he said, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity. “You have a lot to make up for, little troublemaker.” He kissed her again, deeply, thoroughly, leaving no doubt about his intentions.

He stripped off his own clothes quickly, his movements urgent. She watched him, mesmerized by the raw power of his body, the taut muscles, the confident way he moved. When he was naked, he came back to her, pressing his body against hers, skin to skin.

His hand slid down her stomach, tracing the curve of her hip, then dipping lower, finding the warm, wet core of her. She gasped, her legs parting instinctively. He stroked her, slowly at first, then with more purpose, making her writhe beneath him.

“Beg for it,” he whispered, his breath hot against her ear. “Beg for what you want.”

She clenched her thighs, trying to resist, but the pleasure was too intense. “David…” she whimpered, her voice cracking. “Please…”

He chuckled, a low, satisfied sound. “’Please’ what, Chloe? Be specific.”

She hated being told what to do, especially in bed. It was usually her who set the pace, who dictated the terms. But tonight, he was in charge, and a part of her, the deep, hidden part, thrilled at the sensation of being utterly dominated.

“Please… fuck me,” she finally choked out, the words a desperate plea. The admission felt like a surrender, and it was glorious.

He leaned down, kissing her deeply, a triumphant kiss. “There it is,” he murmured against her lips. “That’s what I like to hear.”

He shifted, positioning himself between her legs. She felt the hard press of him against her entrance, and a fresh wave of desire washed over her. She lifted her hips, eager for him.

He entered her slowly, deliberately, stretching her, filling her. She cried out, her nails digging into his back. The sensation was overwhelming, all-consuming. She wrapped her legs around his waist, pulling him deeper, wanting more.

He began to move, a slow, powerful rhythm that quickly built in intensity. She met his thrusts, matching his pace, their bodies moving in perfect sync. The bed creaked with their movements, the only sound in the room apart from their ragged breaths and the soft thud of skin against skin.

“This is what happens when you push me,” he gasped, his voice thick with exertion, as he drove into her. “This is the consequence of your defiance.”

She laughed, a breathless, wild sound, as pleasure built inside her, tightening and coiling. “I wouldn’t have it any other way!” she cried, her voice hoarse with passion. “Do it again, David! Make me regret it!”

He grinned, a fierce, raw expression that made her heart pound even harder. “Oh, I’ll make you regret it,” he promised, and then he picked up the pace, pushing her harder, faster, until her world dissolved into a kaleidoscope of sensation. Her climax hit her like a tidal wave, pulling a long, drawn-out scream from her lips. She convulsed around him, her body shaking, utterly spent.

He followed quickly, groaning her name as he emptied himself inside her, collapsing onto her, his body heavy and sated. They lay there for a long moment, tangled together, their breathing slowly returning to normal. Her skin was slick with sweat, her muscles aching, but a deep, profound sense of contentment settled over her.

He shifted, propping himself up on one elbow, looking down at her. His hair was messy, his eyes still dark with passion, a faint flush on his cheeks. “So,” he said, his voice a little rough. “Was that enough to clear my head for the meeting?”

She smiled, reaching up to run her fingers through his damp hair. “You know,” she said, her voice soft and husky, “I think you might need another distraction. Just to be safe.”

He laughed, a deep, rumbling sound that vibrated through her. “You are impossible, Chloe.” He leaned down and kissed her, a soft, tender kiss that spoke of affection and a deep understanding. “And I wouldn’t have you any other way.”

She nestled into his side, feeling the warmth of his body against hers, listening to the steady beat of his heart. The thrill of the chase, the defiance, the eventual surrender – it was all part of their unique dance. And tomorrow’s meeting? She doubted he’d even remember it. He’d be too busy remembering her.
